The fascination with cabin beds...

Cabin beds have a certain charm that has fascinated me since I was a child. The idea of a hidden bed tucked away behind curtains, providing a feeling of safety and comfort, has always been appealing. It's great to see these beds making a comeback and becoming increasingly popular in modern homes. The nooks and crannies in cabin beds provide a unique design opportunity, with bookshelves, lamp spaces, and even a place to store your mobile phone for those late-night scrolling sessions. These beds are a great way to add character to any room and can be a statement architectural feature in your home. So why not consider a cabin bed for your home and enjoy the cozy and whimsical element they can bring to your space!

Architectural Digest has covered them in many articles in recent years. Here's some I love...

Beautiful framing and the gentle blue wallpaper makes this an ideal space under the eaves of this attic room. Vibrant fabrics and complementary wall coverings create enough interest for this small room and create a space for grown ups, in a bed loved by children.

Well this one makes me yearn for the Highlands of Scotland but I also think of Wales with the Melin Tregwynt style throw and checks with tweeds.

I love the added storage with this one, more cosy throws and extra bedding. I would definitely stay here!

According to Diply, box beds are making a big comeback. Originally from medieval times, box beds were a way of keeping warm during the night before heating was invented.

Not one but two! A great double cabin bed for a children's room. Softened with green and beautiful flower featured walls. Painting the ceiling the same colour is a great idea! It might have been told cold painted white.

Panelling is so versatile, used here effectively to frame a single bed in a London project with Blenheim curtains by Michael Smith.

Perfect built-in symmetry in the Hong Kong home of handbag designer Fiona Kotur made by local artisans. This design shows cabin beds are not just for small spaces but can take pride of place in any well-designed bedroom. Just stunning.

So if you're looking for a unique and practical way to add character to your home, built-in cabin beds or box beds could be the perfect addition. These types of beds work particularly well in homes with awkward attic spaces, as they can help to maximize the use of the space. Not only are they functional, but they can also bring a fun and whimsical element to the room, making them great for both adults and children. In fact, these beds have the potential to be a statement architectural feature in any home. From cosy nooks perfect for snuggling up with a good book to bold and eye-catching designs that demand attention, there are plenty of different styles and designs to choose from.
