Part One - We would like to do some more work in the showroom.

We love the traditional bay side of the shop so much that the other side is now looking a tad boring! This was music to my years on a rainy Monday afternoon in January. In this and the next few blogs, I'll show you my step-by-step process to achieve the design.

A trip over to Bath and as I'm driving home, I'm already thinking of the space and design in my head. Now I have to put it all down on paper so I can communicate the design to my client and contractor and to enable me to get it all priced (to ensure I stay within budget) up and then built!

Soooo exciting!

So for this one, we've discussed using some more wallpaper, so this set me on the hunt for some funky wallcoverings and ways to tackle some of the issues my client was facing. My job is to overcome these and make the space look fab and function well. A successful design will need to address both.

My first hunt was for some funky wallpaper!

The best advice I can give on choosing your wallpaper is think about the pattern and colour - can you live with it day in day out? Have fun in your smallest rooms and rooms which are personal to you - a bedroom or a study. Go with what you love, what are you drawn to?

Think about scale and proportion. If you're pattern is large and it's going in a small room, your room will feel even smaller. Similarly, if you want a huge room to feel cosier or smaller then large patterns will help with this. Small patterns in large rooms will make the room feel even bigger, so think what you're trying to achieve.

These are a selection of the ones which caught my eye. Check back on part 2 of this blog to see what I used and how I showed it in the design.
